Intelligent Energy Efficiency Calculator for Green Mark
WHAT IS INTELLIGENT ENERGY EFFICIENCY CALCULATOR
Physical model-based energy modelling approach based on ASHRAE 140 standards, though is an industry standard for evaluating building energy efficiency, is time-consuming and resource-intensive exercises. It needs in-depth knowledge and multiple interactions to get the energy modelling right. What if what you need is just a quick prediction of your preliminary design before performing detailed energy modelling analysis?
At BCA’s SLEB Smart Hub portal, you can try out our intelligent energy efficiency calculator for Green Mark. Combining the power of AI/Machine Learning with thousands of pre-simulated energy models and past Green Mark project data, the calculator can predict and measure the target building’s energy efficiency level in a quick and intelligent way. The calculator does the heavy lifting so that you could focus more on value-added green building design.

BENEFITS
The features and benefits of the IEE Calculator are summarised in Figure 2.
CALL FOR PILOT
We encourage Green Mark(GM) project team to follow below processes to use the Intelligent Energy Efficiency (IEE) Calculator in preparing the analysis report as part of GM submission. In the piloting period, IEE Calculator is used for quick check of target project's energy efficiency and is not meant for Green Mark approval purposes for now. IEE Calculator has two respective tools: -
1. Green Mark Energy Efficiency Assessment Tool
Step 1: Know how to use the tool and evaluate the suitability
Please download the User Manual and learn how to use the tool. In the meanwhile, GM project team shall evaluate the suitability of using IEE Calculator based on:
• Building types*
• Not special or complex building
*Currently, the tool work best for Office, Retail, Hotel, Educational Institution, Healthcare Facility, Mixed Development and Industrial Buildings
Step 2: Assess your project’s energy performance
GM project team use Declaration Form (download the template) to calibrate the inputs for IEE Calculator for better accuracy compared to energy modelling. With the calibrated inputs ready, GM project team use IEE Calculator to generate analysis results and fine tune the design parameters if need be.
Step 3: Prepare the report
After finalising the design parameters and the energy performance prediction results, GM project team may submit Final Report (download the template) together with Declaration Form with project person-in-charge or building owner representative’s sign-off.
2. Green Mark Verification Tool
Step 1: Know how to use the tool and evaluate the suitability
Please download the User Manual and learn how to use the tool.
Step 2: Verify your project’s energy performance
GM project team collect and consolidate the actual energy performance data of the project, based on the inputs required by the IEE Calculator. GM project team use IEE Calculator to generate analysis results and fine tune the parameters based on the actual project if needed.
Step 3: Prepare the report
GM project team submit Declaration Letter (download the template) together with PDF or Print screen of the inputs and results of the IEE Calculator with project person-in-charge or building owner representative’s sign-off.
